Yamamoto Hiroyuki

Hiroyuki Yamamoto was born in 1967 in Yamagata, Japan. He graduates from Composition Department of Tokyo University of Arts in 1990, completed the graduate school of the same university in 1992, where he studied composition with Jo Kondo and Isao Matsusita.
He has been the winner of several competitions, including the third prize of the 58th Japan Music Competition in 1989, the Competition by Musica Practica on the occasion of its 10th anniversary in 1991, and the prize of the 13th competition of Japanese Society for Contemporary Music in 1996. He was also invited to Forum 91 in 1991 that was held by the Université de Montréal.
In 1994, his piece was selected by the International Gaudeamus Music Week '94. In 1998, He won the third prize of BMW musica viva Competition Prize. The selected Orchestral piece was performed by Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra in 2000. Also he won the first prize of Toru Takemitsu Composition Award 2002 and also The 13th Akutagawa Composition Prize by his recent orchestral piece.
He is a member of composers' group "TEMPUS NOVUM".
